Iconic musician Elton John has officially entered the world of NFTs. The beloved singer-songwriter is teaming up with Magic, known for its hoverboard NFTs, to auction an all-in-one hoverboard NFT based on their smash hit song Rocket Man. NFT company Sweet is also a participant in the NFT auction. The purpose of the auction is to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

All About the Elton John x Magic Rocket Man NFT Hoverboard
The focal point of the collaboration between Elton John and Magic is of course the Rocket Man NXT hoverboard. NFT is a special edition magic hoverboard designed by artist Voxel Bunny. The hoverboard contains several touchstones from John’s long career.
Most notably a keyboard pinball machine, which brings to mind John’s 1975 music video for “Pinball Wizard”. Other elements include John’s star glasses and piano keys. The video for the NFT hoverboard features a 3D avatar playing John’s Rocket Man as the special hoverboard ride through a metaverse.
It is worth mentioning that Magic says that the Elton John Hoverboard NFT will be the rarest of its 6,666-piece collection. Sweet, the NFT marketplace platform, is hosting the auction. Bidding began on Monday, June 20th and will end on June 22nd at 6PM EST.
As mentioned earlier, the auction is for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Clearly, the charitable component of NFTs is a major inspiration for Elton John. He said in a statement:
“While I’m no Metaverse expert (!) I wanted to make sure my first NFT was something true to me, and teaming up with LGBTQ+ artist Voxel Bunny and Magic was something unique that the Elton John AIDS Foundation for Pride Month. Web3 has the potential to bring people from all over the world together like never before and I look forward to the opportunity to connect with our fans in a vibrant and growing community.
The auction started at $5,000 and at the time of writing the highest bid is $9,000.

Magic is an NFT and Web3 company that first made waves for their NFT hoverboards. Furthermore, the hoverboard collection currently sits at a minimum price of 0.54 ETH on OpenSea, with 4.9K ETH in secondary amounts. Since then, Magic has also brought out a collection of NXT jetpacks.
Just last month, the company raised $36 million in a Series A funding round. In all, this means that Magic has raised more than $45 million to help develop its AR platform.
To clarify, Magic Mirrorverse is the company’s world of augmented reality games. In this metaverse, players come together around a suite of magic virtual objects. In fact, Magic is actually preparing to launch its first collection of avatars for the Mirrorverse.
In July 2022, Magic will launch a collection of 11,111 Magic AVAs. To be sure, the company has high ambitions for the collection. For example, it describes them on its website as “the most technically and creatively ambitious avatar in Web3”.
