Rusnack presented his case in an hour-long video posted to YouTube on Monday, arguing that BAYC is “a giant alt-right inside joke” that uses language, symbols and memes from anonymous image board website 4Chan. does.
Arguments over whether Yuga Labs’ flagship Bored Ape Yacht Club’s (BAYC) non-fungible token (NFT) collection includes racist iconography and white supremacist esotericism has been renewed by a video posted by YouTuber Philip Rusnack, AKA Philion.
He noted that NFT graphics include racist stereotypes of black and Asian people, and the symbolism and terminology of Era Labs and BAYC and parallels between Nazis.
For example, a popular example cited by supporters of the claims compares the BAYC insignia to the Nazi Totenkopf insignia used by the SS Panzer Division during WWII.
Rusnack makes a call to action at the end of the video, asking his viewers to pressure BAYC NFT owners to “burn” their tokens by sending them to an unusable and untraceable wallet address.
Rips bought the name gordongoner.com, the same pseudonym identity used by Yuga Labs co-founder Wylie Arono, to host a site dedicated to the enigmatic symbiosis.
Artist Ryder Ripps submitted a compilation of evidence of Nazi iconography and anti-Semitism in early 2022, and allegations of racial symbolism within the collection became a trending topic on social media.
According to Rusnack in the video, “there comes a point at which these connections are no longer a coincidence”.

Era Labs reacted to some of the allegations without directly mentioning the subject, tweeting in January that the app was used by many in the crypto world to refer to themselves.
Probably in reference to the crypto-slang term “app in”, which refers to someone who invests extensively in coins or projects without any previous study.
Mark Pitkavez, a well-known insurgency expert and a senior researcher at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Center for Extremism, told Input that he found no link between the logo and Totenkopf.
Pitkwej agreed, however, that some NFT properties and features were significant concerns, such as the “hip hop” attribute with gold chains and the “sushi chef headband” being the stereotype of Black culture and the “sushi chef headband” being stereotyped by Asian culture.
However, Pitcage and Carla Hill, another researcher at ADL, believe that Ripps’ findings do not constitute a distinct set of fundamentalists.
Ripples has been accused of using its collected research to promote its own BAYC derivatives NFT collection, RR/BAYC, which includes over 6,000 NFTs based on the original collection.
According to Rips, the collection is a parody and protest aimed at educating people about BAYC’s suspected extremist affiliations.
