Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) Polygon is expanding its NFT collection by partnering with NFT marketplace UNXD.
The expansion, called “DGFamily NFT Community”, will use UNXD’s platform as a gateway to DGFamily’s ability to access its exclusive luxury product line through an entry pass called the “DGFamily Box”.
D&G’s announcement via Twitter comes after D&G debuted its first collection – Collezione Genesi, back in September last year. The collection, inspired by Venice, served as the world’s first ‘couture NFT collection’ with nine artworks.
The most famous of the collection wasdoge crown– A digital artifact containing seven sapphires and 142 diamonds. The collection was sold to private collectors for a total of over $5.5 million, with the Doge Crown selling for over $1.2 million.
“DGFamily is an extension of how we have always worked, but amplified through digital technology,” a D&G executive said in a recent Twitter space.
D&G’s First Drop Through Wrapped ETH
Each piece will have multiple designs in different boxes, giving the item in each box a different rarity and adding an extra element of exclusivity. Although the prices of the various boxes have not yet been disclosed, in addition to any information regarding its supply, both Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will design all the items in each box.
However, for the purposes of “ensuring reasonable rarity,” the company says there will be fewer than 10,000 boxes with prices starting 1-2 weeks before each drop.
“The first drops and the experience will be really special,” said the executive.
The first planned D&G Family Box drop will take place on UNXD on March 26, with sales in Wrapped ETH (WETH) via Polygon’s scalping network.
Buyers can get wrapped ETH by connecting their Ethereum to the Polygon network. The boxes will be molded on Layer 1 Ethereum and Bridge to Polygon for delivery to their respective owners after the sale.
Other Luxury Brands – DKNY and Louis Vuitton
D&G isn’t the only domestic luxury brand to take its elite collection into the blockchain and NFT space.
Last year fashion brand Donna-Caren New York (DKNY) launched the NFT of its logo in partnership with French artists. NFT Red was available on the NFT Marketplace.
That same month, French fashion house Louis Vuitton joined forces with digital artist and graphic designer, Beaple, for its 200th birthday celebrations.
Fashion companies have also started using blockchain to prevent counterfeiting. UNXD stresses the importance of security for D&G NFT drops, stressing that no drops have gone live yet, and on OpenSea to watch out for fakes.
