It feels like a shame to cover an iPhone in a protective case. After all, a big part of the appeal of the device is Apple’s design. However, you’re paying a considerable premium for the expansion of glass and metal. Even though the materials get harder with each generation, they are vulnerable. And with bigger phones like the iPhone 13 Pro, glass and stainless steel can make for a slippery combination. Many people – including me – turn to leather cases as a fair compromise. Leather provides protection against everyday bumps and scratches. It improves your grip on the iPhone thus reducing the chances of accidentally falling. And a premium leather case can complement your iPhone rather than detract from its looks. The Woolnut Leather Case for iPhone 13 Pro is a classic example of how well this can be done.
With 100% recycled paper material, Woolnut’s packing is also environmentally sustainable.
Premium material in a minimalist design
I’ve reviewed several Woolnut products in the past (including iPhone cases and MacBook slip cases) and they always make a great impression. Woolnut manufactures products with environmental sustainability and sustainability as a focus. As a result they give a very premium look and feel.
Cognac Brown Leather is my favorite.
The Woolnut iPhone 13 Pro Case starts with a polycarbonate frame. It is lined with a premium microfiber to protect the back of the iPhone. It is then wrapped in full-grain Scandinavian leather, sourced from local farmers who adhere to world-leading animal welfare standards. The leather is pebbled and flawless in appearance, warm in the hand, and has no seams or rough edges to see. I’m particularly taken by Woolnut’s Cognac Brown Leather—you’ll see that color on full display in the accompanying photos.
The case has a raised ridge for the camera array, a slight lip to protect the display, and it has a cutout to expose the speaker, Lightning port, and ringer switch. Other buttons are covered with leather, but this does not interfere with their operation. It’s a minimalist look that adds as little bulk as possible. It’s unlikely to save your iPhone in the event of a 10-foot drop on concrete, but it covers the basics to prevent damage during everyday use.

Security that Looks Good Ages Good
Unless you are a fan of leather, there is no denying the Woolnut Leather Case for iPhone 13 Pro, it looks great. This is clearly a premium product and I think the contrast of the hints of glass and metal with the leather is striking. One benefit of premium leather like Woolnut is that it develops a patina over time.
Contrast that with a plastic case that develops scuffs, scuffs and gouges over months and years. It’s a bit dubious, but the reality is that wearing a good leather case seems to add character rather than feel old and green.
MagSafe Compatible
The Woolnut Case is MagSafe-compatible.
It’s worth noting that the Woolnut Case includes a neodymium magnet ring, making it compatible with Apple’s MagSafe charging system. It also played well with my Qi wireless charging pad.
recommendation
Woolnut makes a very attractive leather iPhone case.
It’s not cheap — especially if you factor in shipping to the US (though it’s free if you spend enough — but the Woolnut Leather Case is worth it if you want to wrap your iPhone 13 Pro in premium leather.
It offers basic protection, it supports MagSafe, and you won’t find many mass-market iPhone cases that can match the beautiful, pebbled, Scandinavian leather used by Woolnut.
The Woolnut Leather Case for the iPhone 13 Pro is available in Black or Cognac Brown leather directly from Woolnut’s website. It currently costs €45.83 plus shipping for both the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. At current exchange rates, this is around $52. Cases are also available for other iPhone models.
